SMART RED; A NEW BRANCH CONCEPT BY SANTANDER

Santander is renewing their branches, turning them into innovative spaces focused on the customer 2.0 – The branch of the future.

The bank is aiming to deliver a full financial offer with a strong promotion of self-service and online/mobile banking channels.

The new Smart Red branch concept replaces the traditional image with open spaces, providing a comfortable yet engaging space for customers to interact with the relationship managers whilst focusing on the digital aspect of the entity.

Speaking during the launch of the first pilot branch, Ana Botín, Santander´s group chairman, said: ´We have aimed for the branch to revolve around the clients, giving them quick access to all services.´

The objective of this new corporate model is to offer a customer oriented experience, allowing clients to carry out their operations in an agile way, without queues, in an easy and simple manner, and thus facilitating a more personal and long-lasting relationship.

The project, which has been set to be completed in 2018, will see a third of the entire network renewed.

The new branches have an initial entrance, reception and self-service area, an area for transactions and an additional area for personal, private and corporate banking. When customer come to these offices, they will be received and attended by specialized personnel or by a welcoming terminal, at their choice; From there, clients will be able to operate either online or via the traditional way through the ATMs, although they will have at their disposal new and more automated functionalities.

These branches will have a secured Wi-Fi connection, to allow customers to carry out banking operations through their own mobile devices.

This new concept has been designed to satisfy both the ” customer 2.0″ (´Millennials´), as well as the more traditional customers who prefer to receive assistance whilst carrying out their operations.

As part of the project all architectural barriers will be removed, making these branches completely accessible, incorporating hearing loops and Braille information, as well as clear means of access throughout, ensuring at the same time their efficiency and sustainability with ´Smart´ Air Conditioning and Lighting systems.

The Lopez Landa group has been part of this project by carrying out various of these offices during 2016 and we will continue to provide our full support to Santander in years to come.
